“During my early years I was sick with polio. When I made Aliyah to Israel I was admitted to a closed unit in a hospital. I spent 10 years of my life in that hospital and was allowed to leave only twice a year. At the age of 15 I got out of the hospital and I completed my studies. As a handicapped child, no one believed in my ability to work. I learned that the world is a tough place. I started practicing sports. I coached the Israeli women’s basketball team and I wrote newspaper articles on handicapped sports. I received a lifetime achievement award for bringing awareness of handicapped sports to the media.”
