“I was born in Michigan. I wasn’t born religious and at my bar mitzvah there was more bar than mitzvah. After studying philosophy at the University of Michigan, I worked as a rock singer at bars in Michigan. When I was seven, I understood that someday I would die and I asked my parents, ‘what happens when you die?’. They answered that it’s a problem because everybody dies eventually and no one knows where they go. I asked myself, ‘Why was I born, what am I doing here, what is the purpose of my life?’ So I went to meet the rabbi from Lubavitch.”
